1.
EXT. COOSA RIVER — DAWN
The river at first light. Mist sits flat on the water. A dragonfly traces a slow circle above the surface.
EDWARD BLOOM, 20s, all jaw and grin, stands at the bank with a fishing line in his hand. He has been here all night.
His line goes taut. He reels — slowly, carefully. Nothing.
EDWARD (V.O.)
There are days the fish won't bite. Those are the days that matter most.
INT. BLOOM KITCHEN — CONTINUOUS
SANDRA BLOOM, 20s, quick eyes, pours two cups of coffee. She's already read the paper.
SANDRA
The Ashton job is yours if you call by noon. It pays well.
Edward appears in the doorway — wet to the knee, grinning wider than she'd like.
EDWARD
I saw it again. The big one. Shadow this long.
He holds his arms wide. She tries not to smile. She almost makes it.
SANDRA
Call by noon, Edward.
EXT. COOSA RIVER — LATER
Edward is back at the bank. The sun is fully up. He casts again, patient as stone.
EDWARD (V.O.)
A big fish needs the right bait. And the right story. Without the story, it's just a worm on a hook.
